The future king has made it clear: there’s little room for scandal in his vision of the monarchy. According to new reports, Prince William is preparing to take unprecedented steps to distance the royal family from his embattled uncle, Prince Andrew.
For years, the Duke of York has faced intense scrutiny over his controversial ties to disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein and a series of troubling allegations about his conduct. While Queen Elizabeth II and King Charles III have largely chosen a quieter approach—relegating Andrew to the sidelines without stripping him of his formal titles—it seems William may not be so forgiving.

To formally revoke a dukedom or peerage, Parliament would need to be involved, with new legislation passed to confirm the action. It’s a politically delicate process, but sources suggest William is prepared to see it through once he becomes king.
This determination comes as fresh allegations about Andrew’s past have resurfaced in Entitled: The Rise and Fall of the House of York, a new biography by Andrew Lownie. Among the most disturbing claims: during a 2006 trip to Thailand for the late King Bhumibol’s diamond jubilee, more than 40 women were allegedly brought to Andrew’s hotel over the course of his stay. Hotel staff reportedly noted a steady stream of visitors to the prince’s suite, sometimes with one arriving immediately after another departed.
The revelations have once again raised questions about Andrew’s conduct during his time as a working royal, and whether the family’s ongoing connection to him undermines their public standing.
William’s Vision for a Scandal-Free Monarchy
Royal watchers say William’s stance marks a sharp departure from his father’s approach. While King Charles has taken careful steps to minimize Andrew’s public role—removing him from official duties and excluding him from high-profile events—he has stopped short of the ultimate penalty: erasing Andrew’s formal place in royal hierarchy.
But William, insiders say, is focused on the long-term survival of the monarchy in a world where public perception can shift overnight. Social media, constant press coverage, and heightened expectations of accountability mean scandals linger longer than ever before.
